Reimagining Infrastructure in the Age of AI, Digital Transformation and Climate Change

Shape the Future of Infrastructure

Building a Shared, Sustainable & Resilient Future

What is the World Infrastructure Forum?

The World Infrastructure Forum (WIF) is a high-level international platform dedicated to rethinking how infrastructure is conceived, financed, delivered and governed in the 21st century.

Co-led by leading global institutions, WIF convenes decision-makers from across the infrastructure ecosystem — academia, industry, finance, technology and public institutions — to explore how infrastructure systems must evolve to respond to climate change, technological transformation and new economic realities.

Through strategic dialogue and cross-sector collaboration, WIF seeks to accelerate the transformation of infrastructure towards more resilient, sustainable and digitally enabled systems.

A Global Summit for Infrastructure Leadership

The World Infrastructure Forum (WIF) convenes a high-level, invitation-only summit in Madrid on October 28–29, bringing together global leaders across infrastructure, finance, technology and the public sector.

Held biennially, WIF serves as a recurring meeting point to advance the transition towards more sustainable, resilient and digitally enabled infrastructure systems.

WIF brings together a curated community of global leaders committed to shaping the future of infrastructure.

A long-term platform

WIF is conceived as a long-term, recurring platform that extends beyond the summit, hosted in Madrid — a neutral and globally connected capital at the crossroads of Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia, with a strong institutional and infrastructure ecosystem.

Our purpose

To foster collaboration, innovation, and shared responsibility — building the infrastructures that enable a viable, sustainable, and resilient future.

Co-founded by MIT, UPM, the World Bank Group and UT Austin, WIF is a non-profit initiative that aims to accelerate the transformation of infrastructure systems to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global context.

The World Infrastructure Forum is supported by a select Advisory Committee of leading organizations from across the global infrastructure ecosystem, whose expertise and strategic insight help shape the forum's agenda to address the complex challenges facing infrastructure systems worldwide.

The organizing and managing entity of the Forum is the Agustín de Betancourt Foundation, responsible for its operation groal and administrative execution, ensuring institutional coherence and the proper coordination between the founding institutions and the business and academic ecosystem.

Key Themes

WIF explores the major transformations shaping infrastructure systems worldwide.

How artificial intelligence, data and digital technologies are transforming the way infrastructure is planned, delivered and managed.
